Registry? Gifts? Oh My!

It may be hard for you to believe if you've been to our apartment and tried to make us dinner, but we honestly don't need anything. Your presence at our wedding or reception is the best gift we could receive. If you really want to purchase a gift for us we suggest the following:

1. A gift of Delta SkyMiles would be awesome. You can purchase SkyMiles on Delta's website
2. Dress up as a Star Trek character for our Atlanta reception on November 8th! We have to wear wedding clothes, but it would be awesome if you would dress like characters from our favorite show
3. An offer to foster our cats while we are on our honeymoon (hint, hint)
4. Something you've made or written
5. A traditional gift that is given in your family or culture
6. We like to shop at REI, Borders, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Bed, Bath, & Beyond
7. One of those leg lamps from A Christmas Story

Map of Playa del Carmen

With less than 2 months to go until the wedding we know that many of you are planning your trips. The map above highlights the downtown area of Playa del Carmen, as well as many of the hotels that you have all chosen to stay in. Our condo, Porto Playa, is on 1st Ave. Norte (located in the middle of the map where it says GYM). If you click on the map you will be redirected to a larger version.

In the coming weeks Vanessa will be sending out an email with the details for the week. We will be hosting a rooftop BBQ the night before the wedding that everyone is welcome to attend. Additionally, we have rented transportation to take everyone to the ceremony location the day of the wedding. Let us know if you have any questions.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Mexico!

Currency Exchange

The currency used in Mexico is the peso. The exchange rate tends to be around $1 U.S. to $10.5 Mexican pesos. You can find the current exchange rate here.

There is no need to exchange dollars to pesos before arriving in Mexico. There are plenty of currency exchange booths at the airport, as well as ATMs throughout the major tourist strips in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. An ATM will automatically give you cash in the local currency. Many small shops and restaurants will not accept credit cards so it is best to have some cash on hand.

Rules to fly by

If it's been a while since your last plane flight, be sure to review the current security rules for flying. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has the rules listed here on their website. You can also find a list of prohibited items on the TSA's website here.

Quick rules to live by include not carrying on any weapons (razors and pocket knives are included in this), and no gels, aerosols, or liquids that aren't in travel-size containers (this generally means 3 oz.). If you must bring full-size shampoos or razors you can place them in your checked baggage. Don't forget, however, that many airlines are now charging for checked baggage and that you might have to pay a fee for this luxury.

The airport will confiscate and dispose of anything that you bring that is prohibited. If you don't want your stuff thrown away then it's a good idea to inform yourself of the rules beforehand!

Hope you can make it! It should be a dorky time.
